Neptun Codes, Credits and Registration Procedures This page has information on:
Neptun Codes and Credits - for students who started their studies in or after 2016
Neptun Codes - for students who started their studies in 2015 or before Credits to be awarded for different activities - for students who started their studies in 2015 or before Registering credits for research and tertiary teaching - for students who started their studies in 2015 or before (( ))(( ))(( ))(( ))
Neptun Codes and Credits for students who started their studies in 2016 or later The Neptun codes for the courses and other activities can be found in these documents: - A detailed curriculum (in Hungarian): https://ppk.elte.hu/file/NDI_modularis_mintatanterv_2016.pdf - A detailed curriculum (in English): https://ppk.elte.hu/file/PHD_Educational_Sciences_2016.pdf Important: Please note that an extract of the above documents relating to credits and subjects in Language Pedagogy can be downloaded from here: OVERVIEW OF CREDITS AND SUBJECTS
To make calculations easier, here is a short summary of the required credits in the various categories:
Templates for different administrative issues (i.e., changing supervisor, requesting co-supervisor, credit application, credit charts, etc.) can be found at: https://www.ppk.elte.hu/en/content/templates.t.33601?m=140 (in English) https://www.ppk.elte.hu/content/formanyomtatvanyok.t.33601 (in Hungarian)
The summary of the credit points that can be earned for different research activities: https://ppk.elte.hu/file/Kredit-tablazat_2016-tol.pdf (in Hungarian) and https://ppk.elte.hu/file/Credit_chart_from_2016.pdf or (in English) Please note that apart from the stipulations regarding publications set by the Doctoral School and published on page 8 of this document, the Language Pedagogy Programme has a few professional requirements, too. These are published under 1.6.2.1 Obligatory research activities on the Programme Information page. The Credit application form for foreign students can be downloaded from: https://www.ppk.elte.hu/file/credit_appl_form_language_pedagogy.docx (in English) https://www.ppk.elte.hu/file/kreditfelveteli_lap_nyelvpedagogia.docx (in Hungarian) It is advisable to keep track of the credits claimed and earned in two ways: by keeping a copy of the credit sheets submitted, and also by filling in and keeping a self-reference credit record sheet. Two other useful templates are that of a study plan (in English and Hungarian) to be submitted to the Doctoral School at the beginning of the studies, and that of a progress report, which has to be submitted after each semester.
(( ))(( ))(( ))(( )) Neptun Codes for students who started their studies in 2015 or before Course participants must register for the courses themselves by using the Neptun website (https://hallgato.neptun.elte.hu) by the deadlines advertised by the doctoral office and the info page of the Neptun and Qter. (https://qter.elte.hu ) The codes for the courses (worth 7 credits each) are as follows:
For more information about the courses, go to Programme Information (sections 1.1 - 1.4), Course Structure, and Course Outlines. Research and teaching activities will be registered by the Doctoral Office. Programme participants have to fill in a form with the details of the relevant activity/activities when these have been completed. (See more details under the section "Registering credits..." below.) The codes for the research and teaching activities are as follows:

Credits to be awarded for different activities for students who started their studies in 2015 or before The tables below give an overview of the credits to be earned for different activities.
Table 1 shows the framework of the Programme in terms of activities and credits. You have to obtain the following credits for completing the Programme: 112 credits for courses - i.e. 16 courses 24 credits for publications - three publications 16 credits for other further academic activities - at least one of which must be a conference presentation in English 28 credits for teaching in a tertiary institution - If you are not in a position to teach such courses, you can earn these credits by publishing or doing other academic activities, but a request form has to be submitted to the Doctoral Office.
Table 2 presents a more elaborate system of credit points to be awarded for research activities to participants who started their studies in 2010 or later.
Abbreviations and notes: O: Obligatory units (these cannot be replaced by other units) E: Electives (i.e., activities from which students can choose as they wish) * - See Section 1.6.2.1 on the Programme Information page for details regarding this element. ** - Credits may be allocated for activities that involve work requiring the time (or workload) specified for 4 credits in the Faculty Doctoral Code (Kari Doktori Szabályzat. 1 credit=30 study hours [ for details see "Intézményi kredit szabályzat, par. 2. 200/2000. (XI. 29) Korm. rend. 1. par.) on page 64.]) *** See Section 1.6.2.2 on the Programme Information page for details about elective research activities. **** - 1 unit = 1 double period (i.e., one ninety-minute session) per week. See Section 1.6.3 on the Programme Information page for more details. #- These credit points may be subject to change in light of the directives outlined in the Table 2 below. ## - It is important that course participants plan ahead how they want to gather credits for the elective requirements.

N.B. This table is a copy of a document of the Doctoral School and is therefore in Hungarian. This system is valid from September 2010. The table is also available from: https://ppk.elte.hu/file/Kredittablazat_2012_utani_2016-.pdf
* 'Részvétel' refers to active participation in, for instance, a panel discussion, and not just attending an event.

Registering credits for research and tertiary teaching - for students who started their studies in 2015 or before Credits for research and tertiary teaching activities are registered by the Doctoral Office. Download this claims form (kreditbeszámítási kérelem) to submit requests for the registration of credits earned in these categories and also this self-reference credit record sheet. This latter is mainly intended for your own use, but it helps the the work of the DoS in the process of approving your credits.
The procedure for claiming credits for research activities is as follows:
Students have to submit the claims form (see above) along with proof of publication/presentation or acceptance for publication/presentation with proper references to the Director of Studies (DoS) of the programme by email. (A handwritten signature is not necessary, the applicant's name can just be printed.) If this is not the very first time you are claiming credits, please also submit the self-reference credit record sheet. Proof can take the form of a letter of acceptance from the editor of the journal a paper is due to appear in, the programme booklet of a conference, etc. In the case of a publication in a journal other than those listed in our Journals page, or in the case of material published that is not accessible on the Internet, the publication has to be presented to the DoS. Proof of non-published work has to be certified by the person responsible for commissioning/co-ordinating that particular activity (e.g. a conference organiser, the leader of a research team, etc.). If credits can be claimed, the DoS will forward the request to the Doctoral Office with her recommendation.
The procedure for claiming credits for teaching in a tertiary institution is as follows: Students have to submit the claims form (see above) and the detailed course syllabus of the cours(es) they teach together with a description of the class (i.e. who the class are, how this subject fits into their programme, general approach used, possible challenges, etc.) to the Director of Studies of the programme by email. (A handwritten signature is not necessary, the applicant's name can just be printed.) Proof of non-published work has to be certified by the person responsible for that particular activity. If credits can be claimed, the DoS will forward the request to the Doctoral Office with her recommendation. (( ))(( ))(( ))(( ))
